There are steps you can take to help your children get the education they deserve without breaking the bank. These payments can be an agreement between parents or set up and managed through Services Australia.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.servicesaustralia.gov.au\/learning-about-child-support?context=60015\">Services Australia<\/a> to learn more about child support payments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Government services<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Centrelink<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Australian Government provides income<strong> <\/strong>support payments through <a href=\"http:\/\/fern_page_centrelink\">Centrelink<\/a>. This includes a range of support payments for parents, families and carers. Applying for payments can be confusing. Here are a few:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.anglicarevic.org.au\/our-services\/family-and-parenting-support\/\">Family and Parenting Support &#8211; Anglicare Victoria<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsl.org.au\/services\/family-support\/\">Support for families | Brotherhood of St. Laurence<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/goodshep.org.au\/services\/parent-support\/\">Parent Support \u2013 Good Shepherd<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Bills, transport, and other everyday expenses<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bills for utilities, getting around, groceries, clothes, and even just whatever you want to do for fun all cost money. These are money pressures that can get harder when you have a new mouth to feed in the family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Getting by on a tight budget shouldn\u2019t stop you and your child from having a healthy and fulfilling life, so we\u2019ve compiled tools, resources, and tips for you to get more for less.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#x1f4cc; See our <a href=\"https:\/\/studiokettle.com.au\/wip\/living-costs\/getting-help-with-everyday-expenses\/\">getting help with everyday expenses<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/studiokettle.com.au\/wip\/living-costs\/bills\/\">paying bills and negotiating<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/studiokettle.com.au\/wip\/living-costs\/ways-to-save-on-transport\/\">ways to save on transport<\/a> pages.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>No interest loans<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/moneysmart.gov.au\/loans\/no-interest-loans\">No Interest Loans<\/a> (NILs) allow you to borrow money to help you get back on your feet without having any of the crippling interest or high fees that come with other forms of loans.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How does it work?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NILs are typically offered for up to $2,000-$3,000 for education fees, rent or bond, essentials like fridges, washing machines, furniture, kitchenware, medical expenses, car repairs, and other goods and services you might need to get back on your feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are certain rules around who can apply for NILs. Broadly, generally you must:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>have a Health Care Card, a Pensioner Concession Card (or an income less than $45,000 per year after tax)&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have lived at your current address for more than three months&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>show that you can repay the loan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who provides NILs?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The No Interest Loan Scheme is one of the financial services provided by Good Shepherd Microfinance.
