They are more likely to experience financial hardship and social exclusion. While Australia has the Disability Support Pension (DSP) and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), these supports are increasingly targeted and have tight eligibility requirements. Eligibility requirements for the DSP have become increasingly restricted over the years. Many with disability <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsl.org.au\/research\/publications\/dead-ends-social-security\/\">are now receiving Jobseeker<\/a> rather than DSP payments \u2013&nbsp;even when they can prove they have partial capacity to work or are entirely unable to work.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Where can you get help accessing the DSP?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dsphelp.org.au\/\">DSP Help<\/a> \u2013 use this for help with applying for the DSP&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/studiokettle.com.au\/wip\/living-costs\/free-legal-services\/\">Free legal services<\/a>\u2013&nbsp;search for local help with rejected applications<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Centrelink<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Australian Government provides income<strong> <\/strong>support payments through Centrelink. You can use this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.centrelink.gov.au\/custsite_pfe\/pymtfinderest\/paymentFinderEstimatorPage.jsf?wec-appid=pymtfinderest&amp;wec-locale=en_US#stay\">tool<\/a> to learn about your eligibility for payments, including the DSP<strong>, <\/strong>or go to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.servicesaustralia.gov.au\/centrelink?context=1\"> Services Australia<\/a> to learn more about the services and support they offer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Dealing with Centrelink<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many people find dealing with Centrelink difficult. Applying for payments can be confusing. Most payments are set too low and have overly strict requirements.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#x1f4cc; See our <a href=\"https:\/\/studiokettle.com.au\/wip\/living-costs\/centrelink\/\">dealing with Centrelink<\/a> page<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>NDIS resources<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ndis.gov.au\/\">National Disability Insurance Scheme<\/a> (NDIS) provides funding for a personalised support plan for people living with permanent and significant disability. Once you have a plan, the services themselves are provided by other organisations.
